Majestic Way Elementary PTA's PledgePage
Help Bring PLAY to Majestic Way. One pledge at a time.
Majestic Way Elementary is a neighborhood school in the Berryessa Union School District of San Jose, CA. Our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) is a non-profit state organization who exists to help advocate for our children. In addition, we help support many of the academic extracurricular enrichment activities for the children (which due to recent budget cuts) would otherwise no longer experience because there is no money to cover those expenses. The children at our school continue to enjoy field trips, field days, science fair, and so much more because of generous donations from families and businesses like yours. This year, it is not only our goal to raise enough funds for classroom enrichment, but also to raise enough funds to purchase a new playground for the children of Majestic Way. Majestic Way is currently one of the highest performing schools in our district, due to the hard work of our teachers, parents, and most importantly, our students. The Majestic Way staff strives to develop academically proficient children, while working with families to effectively raise well- rounded individuals. In order to do this successfully, children must be nurtured and developed academically, socially, and physically. While the teachers and PTA have done our best to provide academically enriching activities and curriculum in the classroom, we have been unable to provide our children with a playground for them to climb, run, and exercise on. Playground time provides young children with opportunities to move their bodies and develop their muscles, while they refine and develop life-long social skills. Taking turns, working together, solving problems, and helping one another to reach a common goal are just some skills that children acquire during recess time with their peers. Currently, we have one playground that all 456 upper and primary grade students share during recess. Because it is not safe to have a significant amount of children on the equipment at the same time, the children must take turns by grade each recess, being granted only a few short minutes each day to utilize the equipment. Previously, our school had two playgrounds for the student’s use, but one has been removed after the structure was deemed unsafe for children’s use. The children have been extremely patient and cooperative, but have expressed disappointment each year when they return to school and see an empty lot where their playground once stood. A new playground for our students costs approximately $60,000. Thus far, we have been able to raise $14,000 towards this amount, through the generosity of parents and businesses in our community. However, we are still $46,000 short of our goal. It is our hope that you will consider a donation or grant towards a new playground for our students. Please consider investing into the children of Majestic Way, the future of our community. Any donation will be accepted with many thanks and the utmost gratitude. Thank you for considering a donation to bring PLAY to Majestic Way. If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to contact us at ptamajesticway@yahoo.com. |
